Starwood opened Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter, a first for the brand in Atlanta.
ATLANTA—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has opened Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter, debuting the brand in the metropolitan area here, and marking the first in the United States of nine new Le Méridien hotels slated to open internationally within the next 12 months.
A Le Méridien also opened in Bali in January.
Following a 12-month, $20 million renovation, Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter features 275 guestrooms and suites along with an outdoor pool, fitness center, club lounge and 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. Dining options include Longitude 84, the hotel’s new lounge, and Portico, the hotel’s ground-floor restaurant slated to open this spring.
RockBridge Capital owns the property and Wischermann Partners manages it.
“The inspiring design featured throughout the spacious guestrooms and public areas, the newly created club lounge and the addition of a new restaurant with an expansive patio complete the transformation of this property,” said Jim Merkel, president/CEO of RockBridge. “The rebranding coupled with the strength of the Starwood system, will position Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter as the premier hotel in the market. We are excited about adding this showcase property to our portfolio.”
Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter features the Le Méridien Hub experience, which re-interprets the traditional lobby into a social gathering place. Le Méridien arrival consists of four elements: large-scale artwork; a signature scent, sound and use of light; artist-designed key-card collections; and a 24-hour soundtrack.
Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter is close to Fortune 500 businesses and the shops and restaurants in the adjacent Perimeter Mall. The Buckhead shopping district, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Zoo Atlanta and High Museum of Art are nearby. The hotel is located five miles from DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and 27 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The property formerly operated as the Atlanta Perimeter Hotel & Suites, a full-service property with 122 standard guestrooms and 153 two-room suites. The asset was the focus of a redevelopment effort in the late 1990s, and became Starwood’s first W branded hotel in 1999; the property remained associated with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and its Starwood Preferred Guest Program, but was without the W brand affiliation since 2008.
RockBridge Capital acquired the property on March 20, 2012.
