HONOLULU—Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort completed its seven-month, $4.3-million Tapa Pool renovation project.

The work includes the expansion of the swimming pool’s deck space by more than 20%, retiling of the existing pool, the addition of water features in the pool, new tropical foliage and six private cabanas.

Designed by Group 70 International, the pool’s open deck area now includes 127 chaises longue and 3,000 sq. ft. of natural stone surrounded by  landscaping. The pool has been completely retiled with Oceanside Glasstile, a sustainable product that uses more than 86 percent recycled material.

“We are thrilled to unveil the beautiful new Tapa Pool and its amenities,” said Jerry Gibson, area vice president of Hilton Hawaii. “The pool and its surrounding deck will be a nice focal point for the resort and I’m sure will be very popular for our guests.”

Guests at the Tapa Pool can enjoy the live Hawaiian music offered nightly at the adjacent Tapa Bar. Guests may also charge beverages and light meals to their rooms while at the pool.

The Tapa Pool is just one of five resort pools at Hilton Hawaiian Village, which include the 10,000-sq.-ft. Super Pool, Paradise Pool with Waikiki’s longest water slide, Kalia Pool and the private Alii Tower Pool. In addition, there are the five-acre Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon and white sand beach.
